Sometimes, you just gotta get the perspective of someone who is a fan first and at heart, but might have a little more inside knowledge than the average ticketholder, to take the pulse of where something lies within the realm of your favorite sports team.
Best we can do for you on a Football Friday is Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, who joined BMitch & Finlay as he does every week to pick some weekend winners, but gave them this perspective of Jayden Daniels after a Thursday night letdown in Philly (even as he took the Birds as a pick last night):
“There is a missing component, and we’re seeing some things right now in these past couple of weeks, but Jayden Daniels is just the truth.
There is not a rookie like him in the NFL,” Gov. Moore said. “But these last two weeks were kind of gut checks for the Commanders, so there is a question about them: are they really a top-tier football team in the NFL just yet or not? I think they're showing they're obviously making massive strides and massive improvements, but you got to be able to beat the good teams, and that's what we just haven't seen yet.”
Within that, does Gov. Moore think Jayden is still either hurt or conscious of his rib injury?
“What was he last night, 22-of-32 for almost 200 yards? That’s not a bad stat line,” he said. “Is he putting up Lamar Jackson numbers? No, but I think most NFL quarterbacks would take the kind of stat line that he had last night and say that was a pretty good night. So, I do think there's probably some tenderness, and he’s probably still playing through some pain in his first NFL season, but damn if he's not still putting up some real numbers.”
Take a listen above for the Governor’s fire picks for Week 11 (spoiler: he picked the Ravens)!
