BMitch & Finlay: What are Commanders' biggest question marks after the Draft?

The Commanders signed 16 new free agents, added nine draft picks, and brought a few more UDFA into the camp fold this weekend – but there are still some holes to fill, surely, and some question marks.

So what is the biggest one?

“We don't know how they're gonna play; I've had faith in this coaching staff based off of their history on other teams and what they've done, that they're going to be able to get the best out of these players,” Brian Mitchell said. “Now, it’s the development of the talent. They picked talented people, guys that are very, very versatile and athletic, but now, can they get all that stuff leading to building a team? The ultimate thing is we drafted all individuals, now we gotta build a team. I happen to believe that we have the right staff to get it done, but it does take some work.”

JP Finlay thinks ‘the left tackle position clearly is somewhere between worrisome and at least noteworthy,’ but to Brian, that’s all relative.

“Left tackle is a problem until you have the proper person,” JP Finlay replied. “I don't think that they're going to pick a guy today and then all of a sudden that problem is solved tomorrow, that's a work in progress.”

“That’s probably the most pressing issue, but I've been pretty clear about this: I'm not expecting them to be that good,” JP replied. “I think they could improve a lot and the record not jump a lot. Like maybe they go 6-11, but they're way more competitive. Remember, they had the worst point differential in the NFL last year.”

Yes, but as BMitch said, those who remain from last year ‘are different people this year, so anything can happen – and you can listen to Brian and JP discuss that above!
