As seems to be the case with BMitch & Finlay’s show these days, MORE news broke on the Commanders’ head coaching front during Wednesday’s show: Seattle appears to be hiring Mike Macdonald as their next head coach, leaving DC as the only vacancy and the Commanders’ pool down to three candidates.
“Today is January 31, the last day of January, and it sure as hell looks like the Commanders aren’t going to make their head coaching hire unil February,” JP said before the news broke. “I would’ve thought that if they didn’t have a coach by Feb. 1, it was because that coach was working in the Super Bowl, so they couldn’t make it official – but I can’t believe it’s gone this long, and there have been some surprises along the way.”
Seattle taking MacDonald may not be a surprise, or maybe shouldn’t, but that leaves BMitch down to this:
“Anthony Weaver is first, then EB, and then Vrabel,” Brian said. “I’m pro defense.”
Macdonald was atop Jeff Walker’s list, but ‘now we wait and see,’ and Landfill was right there too, so now, ‘I guess it’s Aaron Glenn or Mike Vrabel.’ JP is on the Weaver train, but ‘we’ll see.’
Take a listen above to the guys’ instant reaction, and also, the segment with their Top 5 head coaching candidates remaining that JUST aired right as Macdonald to Seattle was being announced, and their initial thoughts on where to go from here when it was only Ben Johnson that had pulled out.
