Davante Adams was a guest on Hot Ones this week, and he did not hesitate in bashing the Commanders when asked which fanbase was the worst in the league.
“They’re obviously just miserable because the stadium is horrible, the city is not great at all,” the star wide receiver said of Washington. “I’m probably gonna get somebody at my front door after this, but that’s just how I feel.”
Reacting to the comments on Tuesday morning, BMitch and Finlay agreed that the Raiders wideout has a point about FedEx Field, especially from a visitor’s perspective, but as for the city, that criticism seemed off the mark.
“I get knocking the stadium,” Finlay said. “I think when NFL players travel to Washington, they expect one thing and are then delivered a very different thing. I think they stay in National Harbor or they might stay in College Park…you’re not really in DC. Depending on the time of day…there might not be much stuff that you’re looking to do.
“I kind of think that was just low hanging fruit and he decided to take a shot.”
Speaking as a former player, BMitch isn’t sure how Adams got that perspective of the city as a player coming to town when playing the Commanders, as it wasn’t the experience he had, or anyone else he came into contact with.
“The stadium, you have a point. But the city, I don’t think he has a point,” BMitch said. “How the hell does he know? Does he hang out here? Or is it just stuff he sees on TV?
“The whole time I played and even since, people loved coming to DC…I can’t see athletes coming to this town and not having a good time.”
