A little NFC East coaching carousel time on BMitch & Finlay Thursday, as the guys spent two segments discussing the Cowboys and Eagles retaining Mike McCarthy and Nick Sirianni, respectively, ending speculation of changes for two division rivals – and then discussing how Ron Rivera told John Keim this week that he wants to get back into head coaching, but is willing to take a step back and be a defensive coordinator first?

Apparently, Ron has ‘several opportunities right now, I just want to make sure it’s the right one.’

“I think that these opportunities would be as a defensive coordinator, because I don’t see him getting head coaching jobs,” JP said, adding of Ron’s words about taking on too much personnel responsibility in DC that “he seemed to want it for a long time! There’s undeniably some stuff that got thrown at Ron that he shouldn’t have had to deal with, but I think there’s some stuff Ron wanted to be a part of.”

“I’m with you on that right now. When you’re a coach, that’s what you want to do,” BMitch replied. “Did anyone say he could not coach, or had to step away from the actual coaching aspect of it? That was a choice, right? Right now you can go back and recant everything that has happened, but am I supposed to believe somebody put that much work into something all year and didn’t mean none of it?”

Take a listen to all three conversations above!
