BMitch: Commanders need offensive line help and a corner on Day 2

What is the Commanders’ biggest draft need, besides the new QB No. 2? Leave it to a former running back to advocate for his Hogs.

“We understand quarterback is the need and assume they're drafting one at No. 2, and once that happens, what are the other needs?” BMitch asked Tuesday. “Mitch Tischler says left tackle, and I believe offensive line has to be improved. We did get some people but you start thinking about it, and wonder, two or three years down the line, are those people you signed this year gonna be around?”

Depth is just as important now, though, so perhaps those players can grow into starting roles if and when Tyler Biadasz, Nick Allegretti, et al are gone.

“You need depth on both lines; I understand when you go buy your jersey, you want the sleek people, a low-number jersey of a receiver, quarterback, whatever – but I know the people that make it go, and as I say, it's the engine and the transmission, and that's the O-line and the D-line.”

And after that?

“I also think that they have to find them a corner,” Brian said. “It doesn't have to be a high pick, but you can find a corner somewhere that can play in this day and age, with the 7-on-7 thing going and all that. There are a lot of good receivers and cornerbacks out there, and I'm sure you can find one in the draft – and I think that that's a position of need that they'll be looking for.”
