Brian Robinson is greatly enjoying working in Kliff Kingsbury's Commanders offense

Brian Robinson is playing in his third different offense in three years in DC…but this time, it’s finally clicking, as are the 3-1 Commanders.

“I’m having a lot of fun; we’re always trying to win, especially after overcoming a lot of adversity early in my career, but it feels great to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Robinson told BMitch & Finlay on Thursday. “(The offense) makes me feel great and counted on. They’re allowing me to be comfortable, and I feel like the team can depend on me with the ball in my hands. The more opportunities I get like that, the more I’ll come through for my team, and the more you’ll feel you can depend on me down the line.”

Austin Ekeler has had a strong season in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, which features a lot more running than his old Air Raid strategies did, and even Jeremy McNichols had a great game off the deep end of the bench on Sunday in Arizona.

Just a testament to the Commanders’ overall mentality, and the friendship in the RB room.

“You always want to be able to have great relationship with the guys you work with. You push them and expect them to push you as well, so we never shy away from it,” Robinson said. “We find ways to help each other get better and do whatever we need to do personally, and it shows on game day.”

And, testament to how Kingsbury has evolved as a coach.

“I love how creative his offense is. He doesn’t have a simple mind at all; he finds any way possible to get his playmakers involved, and get the ball into the guys’ hands to give us the best chance to win,” Robinson said. “He does it with a lot of creativity, and it’s very exciting.”

Robinson actually has known Kingsbury since the draft process in 2022, when Kliff was still the head coach in Arizona, and the two formed a good bond then that has helped them, pardon the pun, hit the ground running in 2024.

“We had dinner before the draft in Arizona, and we had a good sit-down and a good time. It was one of those things where I was like if he drafted me, I was confident I could work with him,” Robinson said. “It didn’t work out then, but it came full circle here. That meeting helped me figure out what kind of person Kliff was and what energy he had, and I had a great idea of what kind of coach he was gonna be.”

And now, it’s time to try to keep it rolling on Sunday, and get to 4-1 by beating the Browns at home.

“We have great momentum to start the season, which is a first since I’ve been here, and it’s something to build on,” Robinson said. “We have a great group of guys who seized this opportunity and want to take advantage of it, so I’m excited by the position we’re in and what we can accomplish. We just need to keep preparing and execute our game plan to the best of our ability, and not worry about anything else. It’s up to us now to be at our best when our best is required and not get complacent with what we’ve done so far, and if we keep executing at a high level, we’ll be in great shape.”
