The Washington Commanders got the rust off from the bye week with a 20-10 win over the New Orleans Saints to get to 9-5 on the season. And the task doesn't get any more difficult than next week's opponent as the Philadelphia Eagles come to town riding a 10-game winning streak.
"Honestly, they know us, we know them," Commanders running back Brian Robinson said about the divisional foe during his weekly appearance Tuesday with 106.7 The Fan's The Sports Junkies, which is presented exclusively by our partners at MainStreet Bank — Cheer Local. "Just going off the first time we played, we just gotta control all of the controllables on our end, play our best ball," he continued. "That's literally all that matters.
But is the gulf between the sides that big?
"Because based off last game, we shot ourselves in the foot multiple times and we feel like we are the better team and we just gotta go play better," Robinson said on 106.7 The Fan. "When we prepare, obviously, we gonna do what we do. And we gonna attack them and we gonna go right at them. We just gotta execute better than they execute.
"It's gonna be one of those type of games. We just gotta be on top of our game from start to finish. We can't come out playing around with them. We just gotta out there and handle our business.
"I feel like if we come out and do that, we will get the win."
If Washington grabs the win, it will be the team's first against an opponent with a winning record. That is a stat that has been thrown around to diminish the Commanders' success on the year, but that's something that doesn't bother Robinson.
"Nah, none of that stuff matters," he told The Junks. "That don't matter. Winning is hard in this league, regardless, it don't matter.... Who cares about the record? Nobody cares, really. We gotta show up and play football on Sunday. The NFL has shown throughout numerous years that anybody can be beat on any Sunday. And we wanna be that team that just shows up to play."
And when it comes to looking at the playoff picture, the running back says he doesn't pay much attention to it, because the Commanders "still have work to do."
"If we handle our business and not only do the work that we need to do, then we will go to the playoffs," he said. "We just gotta handle these final weeks of the season just to build our team as strong as we can to just finish off this season so that we are ready for whoever they put in front of us first week of the playoffs."
