Charles Mann believes RFK 2.0 will get done: 'Muriel Bowser is a boss, an astute businesswoman'

Every former Redskin that has come on Audacy DC airwaves in the last week has been excited for a Commanders return to RFK, in large part because of the history the team has, and they have, at the site.

But Charles Mann’s daughter lives in the area, and he can speak from the perspective of one resident who is excited about what RFK 2.0 will bring – sort of in the same vein as what Mayor Bowser touts.

It’s not a done-done deal until the first shovel goes in the ground – which Mann knows intimately well from past attempts at Washington football stadiums – but this time, it seems like everything is as buttoned up as it gets, so it’s now or never.

“I believe they're always going to be naysayers, and several sides of this to look at, but I think about National Harbor and how that all went down, and that didn't go down, in a, in a real good way for contractors and people that live in the community,” Mann said. “Art Monk and I were there and had shovels in the ground along with all the other dignitaries breaking ground there, and we never got one piece of business. Muriel Bowser, though, is the boss; she is a very clever, very sound, astute businesswoman. You remember what happened with the whole Capital One Arena situation and leaving for Virginia that got nixed, so she is very thoughtful and I think that they would not have come out and made all this big spectacle if they couldn't get this thing done, if they didn't have the votes somewhere. I know some council members are on the fence, but I believe this thing is gonna get done, and I'm excited about it.”
