Commanders general manager Adam Peters joined Grant and Danny on Thursday to talk about life as a GM, his favorite parts about the job, and some of the moves he’s made so far.
One of the more notable moves was trading wide receiver Jahan Dotson to the Eagles, a division rival. While Peters admittedly would prefer to make a similar deal with a team outside the NFC East, he made it clear that Philly’s offer was far and away the most enticing, making the divisional swap easier to swallow.
“That was clearly the best offer,” Peters said. “If you give me some truth serum, the tie is gonna go to the team outside the division, but there’s not always a tie...in this case, Howie was very aggressive and they were bullish on Jahan, and rightfully so.
“I can tell you that a lot of teams were interested in Jahan because he’s a really good player.”
More recently, the Commanders added a new wideout, signing Noah Brown after he was cut by the Texans. For Peters, the addition was one that felt like a long time coming, as Brown is a player he has coveted since his collegiate days at Ohio State.
“Noah Brown was someone we actually were pursuing in free agency, too,” Peters said. “He didn’t come to us for different reasons, but someone we’ve had our eye on for a long time.
“When we had the chance to get him at the price we got him at, it was a no-brainer. We jumped on it right away...I really commend our scouting staff for being ready for that, understanding it may happen, and pouncing on it immediately so we can be first in line.”
