Commanders add veteran safety Sheldrick Redwine
In the least heralded roster move of Thursday, the Commanders have added safety Sheldrick Redwine to their camp roster, one day after Redwine was released by the Cowboys.
They had an open spot on the camp roster after a day where they dealt a conditional seventh-round pick to Cleveland for kicker Cade York, released kicker Riley Patterson, and then traded Jahan Dotson to Philly in a deal also involving four draft picks.
A fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2019, Redwine played 27 games with Cleveland on 2019-20, notching his only career interception and half-sack, but he has played sparingly over the last three seasons while spending time with the Jets, Dolphins, and Cowboys (as well as the Panthers and Colts’ practice squads).
The 27-year-old signed a futures deal with Dallas in January after spending most of last season on their practice squad, but was released Wednesday after dealing with a hamstring issue during camp.
