Commanders agree to two-year deal with DB Will Harris

A day after losing Jeremy Chinn to Las Vegas, it appears the Commanders have replaced him, agreeing to a two-year contract with former Lions and Saints defensive back Will Harris.

The deal, per NFL Media’s Mike Garofalo, is worth $8 million base with a maximum value of $10 million, which is about half of what Chinn got from Las Vegas on his two-year deal.

Harris, originally a third-round pick of Detroit in 2019, spent five seasons there and is familiar with Commanders assistant GM Lance Newmark, who was the Lions’ Director of Player Personnel during that 2019-23 stint.

The veteran has played safety, nickel, and outside corner in his career, playing mostly the latter with New Orleans in 2024 and notching 74 tackles, five passes defensed, and one interception; he allowed completions on 29 of the 44 targets he faced for 336 yards, an average of 11.6 yards per completion.

With Harris and fellow versatile DB Mike Sainristil, the Commanders can continue to look for players at any position in the secondary as they look to bolster a unit looking to be anchored by Quan Martin at one safety spot and Marshon Lattimore at one outside corner.
