Looks like Emmanuel Forbes is going to be out for a few weeks and possibly until midseason, as there are multiple reports that the second-year Commanders corner is going to undergo surgery Friday to repair a torn UCL in his thumb.
The surgery apparently comes with a four-to-six week recovery timeline, meaning the earliest he could be back is for the Oct. 20 Darrell Green jersey retirement game against Carolina.
Forbes, last year’s first-round pick, played 35 snaps around the apparent thumb injury on Sunday, and was spelled by Noah Igbinoghene outside. Igbinoghene now likely will step up to be the top outside corner opposite Benjamin St-Juste (who played all 64 defensive snaps Sunday) with Mike Sainristil (61 snaps) in the slot, and Micheal Davis now tops the second-team depth chart behind them.
The Commanders do have veteran Bobby Price and rookie Chigozie Anusiem on the practice squad, who could be elevated or added to the 53-man roster, especially if Forbes is placed on IR.
