The Commanders have brought in some reinforcements for their wide receiver room, claiming KJ Osborn off waivers from the Patriots.
Osborn signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Pats last offseason but appeared in just seven games, notching seven catches for 57 yards and one touchdown. The 27-year-old made a name for himself previously in Minnesota, where he had 158 catches for 1,845 yards and 15 TD over the last three seasons after being a 2020 fifth-round pick.
The addition supplements a group that lost Noah Brown, potentially for the season, with what head coach Dan Quinn called ‘a significant internal injury’ suffered against the Titans before the bye.
Washington’s leading receiver is Terry McLaurin, with tight end Zach Ertz second on the team in both catches and yards – and the Commanders are without Brown and Austin Ekeler, who were third and fourth on both lists, indefinitely due to injuries, so they needed some help there.
They did not need to make a reciprocal move, as they had an open spot on the 53-man roster.
