Commanders get four Second-Team AP NFL All-Pro selections

The 2024 Commanders have four All-Pro selections, all on the second team.

The AP All-Pro nods were announced Friday, with wide receiver Terry McLaurin, linebackers Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner, and kick returner Austin Ekeler getting the nods among 31 second-teamers.

McLaurin, who was also named to the Pro Bowl, joined NFC East compatriots CeeDee Lamb and A.J. Brown on the second team behind Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Scary Terry had 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 TD; that marked his fifth straight 1,000-yard season, and his 13 TD were second in the NFL to Chase and set a new single-season franchise record.

Luvu (99 tackles, eight sacks, one INT) and Wagner (team-leading 132 tackles, two sacks) joined Zaire Franklin on the second team behind Zack Baun, Fred Warner, and Roquan Smith. Luvu’s eight sacks and seven passes defensed were career highs, and Wagner’s 132 tackles were 18th in the NFL.

The selection was also Wagner’s fourth straight second-team nod and 11th straight overall.

Ekeler missed played in just 12 games due to a pair of concussions, but he led the team with 19 kick returns for 594 yards, marks that were tied for fourth and third in the NFL, respectively. He got the second team nod behind Dallas’ KaVontae Turpin, who led the league in kick return yards and tied for second in returns, was one of just seven players with a kick return TD, and tied for the lead for the most 40-plus yard returns.
