BMitch & Finlay: Commanders latest hires proof of Josh Harris' investment in improving medical staff

The Commanders continued to improve their medical staff on Monday, as the team announced it had hired Ryan Juarez as Washington’s new team director of rehabilitation, while Jamal Randall Sr. is the organization’s new senior physical therapist/assistant athletic trainer.

BMitch says the hires certainly improves an area of need for the Commanders, considering that department was virtually nonexistent under Dan Snyder.

“This team was so far behind,” BMitch said. “We’ll see them do something exciting, and we’ll go ‘finally they’re catching up.’ That’s how it was in Philly in 2000. Josh is basically saying ‘I purchased this team, but it was in the old days. I gotta bring it up to date.’ Guys don’t get hurt and have certain ailments where it takes 5-6 weeks to get back, where on other teams, it takes 1-2 weeks. All of that matters.

“They spent more on chairs for meeting rooms than they did for stuff that would keep the damn players on the field.”

Finlay agrees that the medical side was among the worst in the league under previous ownership, so the latest hires by Josh Harris’ group should be seen as another reason for optimism that this group is much more invested in improving all areas of the team.

“They clearly, obviously, dramatically, did not invest in the medical side of things,” Finlay said. “And that comes from the tip top. For years, Dan didn’t.”
