Taylor Heinicke became a cult hero in Washington after he helped the Commanders compete with the eventual champion Buccaneers in the Wild Card round in 2021, throwing for 306 yards before falling to Tom Brady and company.

Heinicke then went on to get his chance the following season, making 15 starts, throwing 20 touchdowns against 15 interceptions and finishing with 3,419 passing yards and a 7-8 record. Washington felt Heinicke wasn’t the answer as a full-time starter, and swung a deal for Carson Wentz.

If you ask BMitch, Heinicke being likeable shouldn’t blind Commanders fans from realizing that Washington has a better chance to win with Wentz under center.

“We keep falling in love with people because we like them,” BMItch said during Tuesday’s show. “No, fall in love with people who will win football games consistently.”

Wentz has his own question marks, but BMitch says he should still give the Commanders a better chance at improving upon last year’s record.

“I don’t know, but he gives them a better chance with his athletic ability,” BMItch said. “Will he do it? I don’t know. But guess what? You won’t find out if he can if you don’t try something else. Sticking with what you got, that doesn’t always work.”
