The Commanders have solved their kicking problem (again), for now, signing Zane Gonzalez to the active roster. No reciprocal move was needed as the Commanders had an open spot after waiving Emmanuel Forbes over the weekend.
Gonzalez has kicked in three of the last four games for the Commanders, going 3-for-5 on field goals (with both misses Sunday) and 10-for-10 on PATs. He was elevated from the practice squad for all three of those games in Weeks 10, 11, and 13, and being out of elevations, the team had to let him go or sign him to the roster.
Austin Seibert, who has kicked most of the year, went on IR last week after returning from a two-game absence against Dallas and then going right back out with a groin injury. He is not eligible to return until the Week 18 rematch against Dallas, so the Commanders needed a kicker until then.
