Another signing with ties to the current Commanders’ staff – but this time, we got the big fish.

Per Ian Rapoport, All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, who played under Dan Quinn in Seattle, is signing a one year deal with the Commanders with $6 million guaranteed and a max value of $8.5M.

And, it’s not official yet, but Wagner has already sent a farewell to Seattle:

Wagner, 33, was a second-round pick of the Seahawks and, as the man in the middle of Quinn’s Legion of Boom defense, was a six-time first-team All-Pro, eight-time Pro Bowler, and two-time NFL tackles leader in his first 10-year stint from 2012-21, also helping Seattle reach two Super Bowls and win one.

He spent 2022 with the Rams before going back to Seattle last year, where he was again a Pro Bowler after leading the NFL with 183 tackles (11 for loss) with 3.5 sacks, three passes defensed, and a fumble recovery.

Wagner’s signing, along with Frankie Luvu, beefs up an LB core that has 2022 first-round pick Jamin Davis and not much else, as every other linebacker who finished 2023 on the active roster became a free agent.
