Grant Paulsen and Danny Rouhier just could not hide their glee as they opened their show on Thursday, because the Wicked Witch of sorts is dead: Daniel Snyder is selling the Commanders, agreeing in principle to a deal with a group led by Josh Harris for $6 billion.
“I’m cheesin’, my friend!” Danny said with a palpable excitement as Grant introduced him.
“We have been doing shows together since 2009 in some capacity, and Grant & Danny has existed since 2010, and I’m not sure any of those shows we’ve done have been bigger, or meant more to our audience, than today’s,” Grant said. “This is special and different, because maybe, just maybe, there is a gleam! Twenty-four years of turmoil and ineptitude, 24 years of people being treated badly, of irrelevance and losses and being the butt of jokes…it could all be coming to an end, because Daniel Snyder’s reign of terror is over.”
Danny was still cheesin’, and as he asked the guys on the other side of the glass to re-cue the song that had played at show’s open, Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams Come True,” Daniel George Washington L’Enfant Rouhier absolutely EVISCERATED Daniel Snyder for perhaps the final time.
“Pack your stuff, and go, you little twerp. Get to steppin’. Hang out in England or wherever you want to go, and go bother somebody else, you little twerp. Get gone, smell ya later, thanks for nothing, rot in Hell, I hate your guts, go away. This feels very, very real, and it feels very good. One of those, “I can’t stop smiling” kind of feelings, those “I just ate a good meal and another is on the way” feelings. Take that negative energy, all the bad and the hopelessness and convincing yourself into false reality, and go away. There’s legitimate reason to have optimism.”
No pen is to paper yet, obviously, but there’s only three words to describe this one: FINISH HIM, FATALITY for Danny Rouhier – and Grant could only add this coda:
“Hey Dan and Tanya and company: enjoy your bangers and mash, your steak and kidney pie…enjoy London!”
