JP Finlay thinks the Commanders will be fine with either Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels

It’s Drake Maye vs. Jayden Daniels, with maybe J.J. McCarthy as a wild card – but realistically, are the Commanders going to be okay with whichever QB they choose?

“I think in most drafts, Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels goes No. 1 overall, and the fact that in this draft, neither of them are going No. 1, Washington just has elite options, and whoever they end up taking, be happy about it,” JP Finlay said.

JP gave his basic scouting reports – bet on the upside with Maye, bet on who he was with Daniels – and while he leans Daniels ‘because we’ve seen it,’ ‘there is no wrong answer.’

“These are elite prospects and great options to have, and I just think it's crazy that some people are locked in and think that one is right, one is wrong, and everybody that disagrees can go to Hell,” JP said.

Tobi Altizer, in the Fishbowl with Jeff Walker on a vacation from his vacation, is a Drake Maye guy because he wants the upside and ‘his flaws are coachable,’ so he prefers a guy comped to Justin Herbert – but again, ‘like you just said, if they took Daniels, I’m fine with it.’

Heck, Daniels has been comped to Lamar Jackson, but BMitch thinks Daniels is a better passer.

“When people see a running quarterback, they immediately just think he's a runner like Lamar, instead of he's a guy who can throw the ball,” Brian said. “Everyone automatically says he's athletic, he’s a running quarterback, but no, he's a passer who can run, and I think that's the difference. I just think that we try to throw everybody that can run the ball into the same pile, and he's totally different than that.”

The best comp JP has for Daniels is Randall Cunningham, which, again, isn’t bad.

“Jayden seems to find a seam to run upon and then he's like a glider, whereas Lamar is like all fast twitch,” JP said. “I don't like the Lamar comp, I think Cunningham is a good comp.”

JP then threw out how Trevor Lawrence, after his sophomore year at Clemson when he was running a lot, might be a good comp, or Deshaun Watson in college – which he knows he’ll be lambasted for, but hear him out.

“If you get the pre-massage parlor story version of Deshaun Watson, that's an MVP. I think that's a way better comp than Lamar,” JP said. “Lamar is just too much of a make you miss guy to be comped really to anybody, and I think Jayden, at this stage of his career, is a way better passer than Lamar was at this stage of his career. There's a reason Lamar went 32nd and this kid's gonna go second at this stage of their career.”
