Former Audacy DC columnist, on-air guest Rick Snider passes away

The Audacy DC family is saddened to learn that our good friend and former columnist, Rick Snider, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025.

According to friends, Snider had suffered a stroke on August 11, and passed peacefully on Tuesday.

“We are so saddened to hear that our friend, Rick Snider, passed away peacefully this afternoon. Rick was a columnist with 106.7 The Fan for 11 years, and a friend for many more before that,” said Chris Kinard, Audacy DC Operations Manager and Brand Manager for 106.7 The Fan. “He loved covering, writing about, and talking about the Redskins and Commanders, and we loved reading and listening. Our thoughts are with his family and his countless friends.”

Snider’s takes were seen on both 106.7 The Fan and The Team 980’s websites through the most recent Commanders regular season, and he was a regular contributor on-air as well, a frequent guest of The Sports Junkies in later years - last appearing on July 21, just before the start of full training camp.

Rick Snider’s Washington was his most recent venture on social media and Substack, and his past bylines include Command Post magazine, The Washington Post Express, and The Washington Times while covering every local pro and college team, plus high school sports and horse racing, in a career that started in 1978.

He was also a wine enthusiast, wrote nearly a dozen books, and was a licensed tour guide in DC, an apropos vocation for a man whose family history traces back to the city’s 1810 census.

Audacy sends its condolences out to Snider’s family, friends, colleagues, and readers.
