Chris Baker recovering after suffering life-threatening stroke

Former Washington defensive lineman Chris Baker recently suffered a life-threatening stroke but is now in recovery, Baker shared on Instagram, according to TMZ Sports.

"Tell Your love ones you love em my life almost ended 2days ago," Baker, 35, said, adding, "I can't believe I had a stroke but God not done with me yet."

According to his mother, Baker suffered a serious stroke last Friday but doctors say he is responding as if it were a minor one.

He underwent emergency surgery immediately following the stroke but is expected to make a full recovery.

Baker called his outlook a "miracle," according to TMZ Sports.

Baker signed to Washington's practice squad in 2011 and was promoted to the active roster by the end of the year. After making his Redskins debut in 2012, Baker remained with the team through the 2016 season — collecting 181 tackles and 11.5 sacks — before moving on to Tampa in free agency in 2017.

Baker developed a reputation among the fanbase as a beloved personality on and off the field, once famously positioning himself among assembled media during a press conference to ask then-GM Scot McCloughan about his own contract status. "I got ya, Bake," McCloughan responded.
