As if Grant & Danny didn’t love the offseason version of Hard Knocks already, Jayden Daniels is making a cameo on this week’s episode set to premiere Tuesday night, in a scene where Daniels is meeting with the Giants before the Draft and breaking down some film for the team brass – and they are HERE for it.
The NFL and HBO put out a teaser video of the scenario on Tuesday, which G&D played the audio of, and he clearly impressed a strong offensive mind in Giants head coach Brian Daboll…because yeah, Jayden is just him on some levels.
“Jayden Daniels has this, and it's a little bit of an ‘it factor’ thing, but you remember there was a line his press conference where press conference and now it's escaping me, I think it was when he was talking about stealing Florida's soul, and he was like, ‘just watch the game,’” Grant said. “And there was another one where someone said something like, do you feel like you're ready? And he was like, ‘well, no, I don't have the playbook yet, so I don’t know the offense.’ He is very comfortable with a quick wit, he’s a sharp witty guy, and I like that.”
“Walking that tightrope between the athletic arrogance that you need to succeed at the highest level, and it’s knowing that you haven’t accomplished that much at this level yet, but also knowing that you're accomplished, you know what I mean?” Danny said. “Like, you belong here, but at the same time, you have to earn your place at the table instead of, ‘I’ve arrived in the NFL!’ and that attitude of complacency and now you're not coming to stuff and now you're making that money boss. He has that exact right balance to me of I belong here, I should be here and I've worked really hard to get here, but I'm not going to change anything now that I'm here though.”
Seeing that clip was even more special to GP because it was a division rival in the Giants, prompting him to drop a ‘that’s my quarterback!’ on Danny.
