G&D: Thomas Dimitroff is not surprised the Peters-Quinn duo has Commanders rolling

Thomas Dimitroff, the former GM in Atlanta, knows Dan Quinn very well and is close to Adam Peters, and he is stoked for how well the Washington Commanders have done so far under their watch.

“It does not surprise me; when you think about Dan Quinn, you think about coming into that organization that needed a culture change, and the adjustment, that is Dan Quinn through and through,” Dimitroff told Grant & Danny. “I know what he’s doing, and I've never met a head coach who's more functional with the entire organization than him. Culture for him, turning that around that way and having people believe in him, people are buying in 100 percent.”

But why has it worked so well with this group that came together seemingly out of building culture, and not necessarily a juggernaut?

“I think it’s because Dan comes in as authenticity guy, so he is true about it; sometimes people think it's too good to be true, he's so positive and so in your face upbeat, but that is him,” Dimitroff said. “He will fight you if he needs to, which I think is great, but he'll do it with a pat on the back after when he needs to bring you back. He just has a very good knack of doing that and leading the troops, and given the situation that you guys were in before, it just is appropriate for him to come in that way.”

So, how does it continue?

“I can’t tell you how important it is to have a head coach and GM on the same wavelength, and I think Adam Peters and Dan Quinn is a really ideal matchup,” Quinn said. “Those two function well together, they communicate well, there's not a tug on personalities and egos of those two guys; they work well together, and I think that’s vital. They need to make sure the defense continues to function and continue to be very smart about how they use this quarterback; what Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury are doing is ideal, be smart but stay creative on that offense and keep it functioning as it is.”
