As training camp wraps up, one of the biggest unknowns facing the Commanders is what to expect from Jahan Dotson at wide receiver.
The 24-year-old logged just 518 receiving yards last season in 17 games, less than the 523 he accumulated in just 12 games in 2022. His touchdown total also went down from seven to four.
Grant and Danny agree that Dotson will be one of the biggest keys to the Washington offense in 2024.
“Dotson is a big-time X-factor for the Commanders this year. I don’t think that’s breaking any news,” Grant said.
“If Jahan Dotson could make good on being a first-round pick and playing to the level we all expected at a certain point in time, not only do you have another weapon for Jayden Daniels, but you have a receiving room with him, Terry McLaurin, a top 100 pick, and some veterans…so he’s a linchpin to this entire offensive design this year.”
“I thought they needed to do something to be better in that department, mostly because of Dotson,” Danny added. “But if they’re right, and they have the solution internally in a guy who was miscast last year…this is a different eyeline for the season. It’s a much more functional offense, and it’s better for Daniels’ development.”
