Jeremy Reaves named Commanders nominee for 2024 USAA/NFL Salute to Service Award

Special teams ace and safety Jeremy Reaves is the Commanders’ nominee for the 2024 “Salute to Service Award,” presented annually by the USAA and the NFL to ‘honor a league member who demonstrates an exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military community.’

This year, fans can vote for their favorite nominee, with fan vote helping determine the award’s three finalists. You can vote at NFL.com/SaluteFanVote from now until November 30 to cast one vote per day, per fan, and the finalists will be announced in January.

The winner will be recognized at NFL Honors during Super Bowl week in New Orleans.

From the NFL press release announcing Reaves as the nominee:

“Reaves honors his parents’ legacy of service by consistently going above and beyond for those who currently serve. Through countless base visits in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region, he regularly connects our armed forces and their families with the greater Commander family. Jeremy’s tenacity and relentlessness on-field is no doubt a byproduct of his upbringing in a military household. At training camp, Jeremy can regularly be found on the fence line after practice with men and women in uniform. He is routinely one of the last off the field, insisting on spending time empowering soldiers, Marines, airmen, and sailors. He has made multiple visits to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where Jeremy could be found knee to knee with our wounded, ill, and injured, offering heartfelt gratitude for their service and sacrifice. Jeremy’s mother served in the U.S.
Air Force and his
father served in the U.S. Army. He continues to lead on the field and off.”

Joe Cardona, the Patriots’ long snapper and a Naval Academy alum, was last year’s recipient, and then-Commanders head coach Ron Rivera won the award in 2023. Current head coach Dan Quinn is a two-time winner, in 2016 and 2020.
