You’ll almost never see division rivals praise each other outside of generalites given during press conferences around games – but we got just that this week, as Sam Howell got some dap from none other than Eagles center Jason Kelce!
Sunday is “Sam Howell versus Mac Jones, kind of the tale of two careers” as EB said, at least when it comes to their bandwagons – and they played this clip of Jason from the Kelce brothers’ podcast:
“They got up on us quick and, you know, Sam Howell man, when he's on it, it was impressive. It was like methodical. Typically, when you're playing quarterbacks that aren't like well-known, if you make them drive the field and do like short dink-dunk passes, that's hard to continually do – but not for Sam Howell. He was very on point, executing it; he was taking some shots occasionally, but a lot of it was just, you know, it felt like it was death by 1000 slants. I was like, ‘can we get into something for a slant?’ but I'm sure it's a lot easier said than done. All I know is that Sam Howell has played two really good games against us, and the Commanders have played two really good games offensively against us. I asked Eric Bieniemy after the game, I'm like, ‘yo brother, what do you, what are you seeing EB, like, how do we stop this? Like, what are you doing to us?’ But they've kind of had our number, and this is the way divisional games are.”
“High praise,” Cakes called it, but ESPN’s matchup predictor has the Pats as a 56 percent favorite, even though the Pats are down a couple key receivers and have had some trouble scoring points – both of which the Junks discussed.
“I just wanna clarify because I am part of the Howell hive, President this year, Howell is on pace for 27 or 28 touchdowns now, with 13 coming off the four last week,” EB said. “Let’s see how he performs in back-to-back weeks.”
