LOOK: 'Mama Commander' Sylvia Harris honored at halftime as part of NFL's Crucial Catch ceremony in DC
A touching moment at halftime of Sunday’s Commanders win over Cleveland: Managing Partner Josh Harris and his brother, Gabe, joined their mother, Sylvia Harris (who you may also know as ‘Mama Commander’) on-field at Northwest Stadium as part of the Crucial Catch halftime ceremony.
The NFL’s Crucial Catch Campaign is one focused helping raise awareness of early detection and risk reduction for cancer, done in partnership with the NFL and American Cancer Society, and it includes these ceremonies as well as on-field and in-stadium branding and player and coach apparel.
Sylvia Harris, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last December and is undergoing treatment, joined about 160 cancer survivors, warriors, and their caretakers in being honored, as Andra Day performed her hit song, "Rise Up."
Mama Commander’s prognosis is good, and with the help of Crucial Catch, the hope is that all those battling cancer can have a similar outlook. Take a look at the photos of the Harris family on field below, courtesy of the Washington Commanders!
