Neil Greenberg joined BMitch & Finlay on Wednesday for his Week 5 tips and news segment, given that the Commanders will be playing Thursday night – and man, did Neil have some thoughts.
Not on sports betting or fantasy, but on two perhaps more frustrating topics: Sam Howell and the Commanders’ defense.
The former has taken 24 sacks in four weeks – that’s a pace of 102 over 17 games, still well above the record – and even though he looked a lot better against Philadelphia, it’s going to be all on his shoulders this season in one way in Greenberg’s eyes.
“The only thing I care about for Washington this year is will Sam Howell prove he's the guy?” Greenberg asked. “I thought he had a great game against Philly, but that’s the first domino to fall.”
As for the latter? Sound the alarm bells, because they are not playing to their level.
“The defense is most alarming thing – I think they’re an average defense with top-tier talent,” Greenberg said. “If you would have told me before the season (the offense) was going to score 30 points a game, I'd think they'd be really good.”
Take a listen above to Greenberg’s entire call-in, which also included his weekend winners, thoughts on why Christian McCaffrey is not an MVP candidate, and more!
