The Philadelphia Eagles are acquiring wide receiver Jahan Dotson and a fifth round pick from the Washington Commanders for a 2025 third round pick and two future seventh round picks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Dotson, 24, is entering his third NFL season. A Newark, NJ native, Dotson was the 16th overall pick in 2022 out of Penn State, and had 84 catches for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons with the Commanders.
For Washington, this ends the tenure of another Ron Rivera pick - two of the four total first-rounders, and now xx of xx players from the 2020-22 drafts are gone - and further opens the WR2 competition that still contains holdover Dyami Brown, free agent signing (and 2023 Eagle) Olamide Zaccheaus, third-round pick Luke McCaffrey, and recently added Martavis Bryant, among others.
The Eagles add much needed depth at the wide receiver position behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Zaccheaus, Julio Jones, and Quez Watkins were their top three options beyond the Big 2 last year, but with all three gone, Philly signed veteran Parris Campbell, drafted Johnny Wilson in the sixth round, and inked former Bengals first-round pick John Ross out of retirement.
