Commanders special teams assistant John Glenn named new Raiders linebackers coach
The Commanders have lost their first coach of the off-season: assistant special teams coach John Glenn is headed to the Raiders as their new linebackers coach.
Glenn will reunite with new Raiders head coach Pete Carroll, whom he was with in Seattle from 2012-23 as a special teams assistant, defensive quality control coach, and finally, linebackers coach. That experience is what brought him to DC, as well, as Dan Quinn was the defensive coordinator for that Seattle staff in 2013 and 2014.
Glenn was a three-year starter at linebacker at Division II East Stroudsburg, and coached at North Carolina Wesleyan and Washington before entering the NFL in 2012.
That defection is the first of the offseason, although as we know so far, DC Joe Whitt Jr. interviewed for the Jets’ head coaching job; assistant QB coach David Blough has received interest in jobs around the league; QB coach Tavita Pritchard interviewed Wednesday for the Jaguars’ OC position under Liam Coen; and now, on Friday, the Texans requested to interview pass game coordinator Brian Johnson for their OC opening.
