Robert Griffin III surprises Junior Achievement participants in Norfolk in surprise USAA meet and greet

Robert Grifiin III surprised some local schoolchildren, military families, and Commanders fans in Norfolk, Virginia, on Wednesday with a pop-up pep rally as part of USAA’s Positive Steps Event.

Griffin was in Norfolk for a press conference with USAA execs to unveil a staircase wrapping in front of the Norfolk mural in the city’s Waterside District, but he followed that up by visiting with some children participating in Junior Achievement in a surprise meet-and-greet.

“USAA’s Positive Steps campaign was the perfect opportunity for me to remind kids and the community how simple, everyday efforts are “Positive Steps” we can all take to achieving our goals and living a prosperous life,” Griffin said at the event. “I saw a lot of my younger self in the kids I got to visit with in Norfolk, including the football team from Ruffner Academy! They were very engaged and I hope I inspired them to think about their future, embrace the process of making positive choices every day, and good things will come their way in sports and in life.”

RG3 has long been a supporter and friend of USAA, owing to both of his parents serving in the U.S. Army, most recently notably hosting several events – including a youth football camp – in the DMV area around December’s annual Army-Navy Game.
