The Sports Junkies: Should Tress Way be Commanders top free agent priority?

The Sports Junkies spent part of Monday’s show ranking the most notable of the 28 free agents from the Commanders 2024 roster, rating which players are most important to re-sign.

Cakes surprised some of the group when he chimed in with his first 10 out of 10, which was the team’s long-time punter.

“Tress Way. He’s a 10 out of 10,” Cakes said. “He’s one of the best. Big time.

“If you don’t have him, all of a sudden, you’re a minus in that category. That position now becomes questionable.”

Way has had two Pro Bowl seasons in his 11-year career, all in Washington. He was superb again last season in his age-34 campaign, and many expect him to remain with the only team he has known as a pro. But Cakes says he could be the best signing among free agents from last year’s group, and despite the surprise from JP and EB, Bishop was in agreement.

“He’s one of the best in the league,” Bishop said. “If I’m ranking them 1-10, 10 being I want them back, he’s a 10.”
