Texans trade Laremy Tunsil to Washington Commanders for draft picks

The Texans are trading five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders for a bevy of draft picks.

In the deal, Washington gets Tunsil and the Texans' fourth-round pick this year, while Houston gets the Commanders' third-round pick and one of their seventh-round picks this year and second-round and fourth-round picks next year.

This trade ends a six-season run for Tunsil with the Texans. He was named to the Pro Bowl in five of those six seasons, all of them except for 2021 when he was injured most of the season. He was originally the No. 13 overall pick by the Texans in 2016, and has played in 125 career games.

Tunsil was No. 83 in PFF's Top 101 NFL Players ranking this year, with an 88.6 pass-blocking grade that ranked sixth in the NFL, and a 98.9 pass-block efficiency rating that was second in the league. Now, that skill will be protecting Jayden Daniels' blindside at a $21.35 million cap hit this year, and the same next year assuming the Commanders do not cut or trade him (a move that would render no dead cap).
