TJ Houshmandzadeh: 'Jayden Daniels is going to be one of the best QBs in the NFL in a few years'
It was a preview-heavy Monday on BMitch & Finlay ahead of Commanders-Bengals on Monday Night Football, and one of the special guests was one of the best wideouts in recent Bengals history, T.J. Houshmandzadeh – who was also, as you may know, part of BMitch’s team on their recent Celebrity Family Feud appearance.
“Oh man, I’m ultracompetitive, and I just thought it was no way we were gonna lose – and we didn't lose, we got destroyed,” Housh joked. “I was very disappointed. I'm like a boxer that just lost, I need a rematch or a do-over! I was upset, to say the least.”
And as a guy who caught passes from a No. 1 overall pick, a seventh-rounder, and everywhere in between, it means a lot when Houshmandzadeh has high praise for the current No. 2 overall pick under center here in DC.
“Jayden Daniels is my boy, I love that dude – and I believe Jayden will have a hell of a career,” Houshmandzadeh told Brian and JP. ““I want the Bengals to win tonight but I want Jayden to play well. Just to see his progression from Arizona State to his first year at LSU to his second year winning the Heisman – Jayden is gonna turn that organization around. He's that good of a player.”
HUGE praise from Housh, who knows Daniels from working out in Cali where Houshmandzadeh lives and works – and in that, he knows exactly what Jayden’s work ethic looked like before the NFL.
“I've seen the hard work that young man was putting in; any free time at LSU, he was flying to California to train, and I noticed that,” Housh said. “When you see a young man put that type of effort into being a great player, you always want to see the results pay off. No lie, if he had a couple days off, he was out in California training, and I appreciate that type of work ethic.”
BMitch has seen and heard that in Daniels’ time in DC, and knows Jayden is going above and beyond – and Housh agrees it will pay off in the end.
“It’s not just athletes – the best workers are the hardest workers. They're not just good because they're good, they're the hardest workers. He’s putting in the work so that the game hopefully will become easier as he starts to understand the NFL brand of football,” Houshmandzadeh said. “He is going to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league in a few years, because he's putting the work in, and when you work hard, 99 percent of the time it pays off. You have a new head coach, so everybody is learning a new offense, and that will take some time, but you start to see progress, because that kid can just play.”
