The Commanders added two free agents from the Patriots on Wednesday, inking both DL Deatrich Wise and CB Jonathan Jones to one-year deals – and, when NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran joined Grant & Tobi Thursday to discuss the moves, he had some good praise for both.
"He's got unbelievable reach, plays with a great motor. Probably closer to a depth guy but has starter ability, and he's probably better against the run than as a strict pass rusher,” Curran said of Wise, before adding this of Jones: "He is one of the fastest son of a guns that you'll see in your life. When he's outside as a boundary corner his height limitations are going to show up, but as a slot corner, as a hitter, as somebody who can make plays on the ball…you can't do better as far as second-wave free agent signings."
We know the Commanders wanted to beef up the run defense and also to look at some secondary plans in the secondary after D.J. Reed said his decision in free agency came down to Detroit or Washington…so it’s cleat they did their homework on both.
