The Washington Football Team doesn’t have a new name yet, but there are steps being taken to give the franchise a new home.

WFT owner Dan Snyder and team president Jason Wright were at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, home of the Rams and Chargers, this week to gather inspiration for a new stadium being planned for Washington. SoFi was one of many stops the group plans on making as it draws ideas for the new home of the Washington Football Team, which Snyder told TMZ he plans to have ready by 2027.

“We’re touring stadiums,” Snyder said to TMZ. “We’re coming west coast and touring. There’s about 12 of us. We’re looking to build a new venue back home in DC. We’re having fun and looking at the future.”

Snyder said the new stadium could be open “possibly a little before” 2027, but right now, the franchise is in the idea-gathering stage, which will also be taking the group overseas.

“I think what we’re going to build will be state-of-the-art,” Snyder said. “It will be the new home of our Washington franchise, and we’re excited. We’re traveling all over the world. We’re going to Europe and running around, just looking at the best of the best.”

As for where exactly the replacement for FedEx Field will be, that remains to be seen.

“The good thing is, we don’t know where we’re going to be at, DC, Maryland, North Virginia, we’ve got great partners out there,” Wright said. “People across the government there and across economic development organizations that want to work with us and are eager to make stuff happen. So we can be creative and bring some of these ideas back. That’s why we’re here.”

FedEx Field is consistently regarded as one of the worst stadiums in the NFL, with obstructed views and a lack of personality, and the team’s lease at the stadium ends in 2027, right around Snyder’s early projections for a new home.
