The Washington Commanders trading for Carson Wentz on Wednesday left some in shock, for all the wrong reasons.
106.7 The Fan host Danny Rouhier was squeezing in a quick bathroom break before his afternoon show when the news broke. By the time he returned, the deal was done. A day after missing out on Russell Wilson, Washington had acquired Wentz from Indianapolis for two third-round picks and a middling pick swap.
Wrapping up their own show with the breaking news, Brian Mitchell and JP Finlay pulled Rouhier into their studio for his instant reaction.
"Is this real?" Rouhier asked.
"This is real," Finlay confirmed. "It's real Schefter and I've confirmed it with two different people."
"Elaborate prank," Rouhier said, clearly in denial. "This feels like a bit, like, make fun of Danny because he was in the restroom, or like he was supposed to be doing show prep. Like, this is real?"
"One-hundred percent factual," Mitchell insisted.
"Congrats to all of us. What a good day for the Commanders," Rouhier deadpanned. "I am excited about the future. Ron Rivera's really changed the culture. They will win some games. Oh my God. Oh my God."
