Dwayne Haskins Officially Named Starter For 2020 Season

Washington head coach Ron Rivera officially named second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins the starter for the 2020 season on Wednesday.

Haskins beat out Alex Smith, who's still easing back from a broken leg, and Kyle Smith, who was Rivera's starting QB in Carolina last season, to win the job.

While Haskins was a first-round pick in 2019 and showed great strides toward the end of his rookie season, Rivera made clear all offseason there would be a competition for the starting job.

Washington fans have to feel good about the position knowing Haskins earned the job over another quarterback with NFL starting experience, and as Haskins now looks to take the next step as a passer in year two.

Washington begins its 2020 campaign in less than two weeks, against the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 13.
