It was bound to happen eventually, but Alex Smith finally turned the ball over as a member of the Washington Redskins.
The play happened on a passing route to tight end Jordan Reed, who was featured heavily, early in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.
In what was either a miscommunication or a choice play where receiver and quarterback didn't read the same defense, Reed zigged and Smith's pass zagged...right into the arms of Packers' defensive back Ha Ha Clinton Dix:

This is how media personalities responded to the moment:
Smith throws his first interception of the year on miscommunication with Jordan Reed. Looked like it was a choice route. Reed sat down or went to break inside. Smith threw it out. Clinton-Dix was there. Jordan....was not.

— michael phillips (@michaelpRTD) September 23, 2018Sure looked like Smith expected Reed to continue his break outside, made the throw early, trusting him to win. Reed stopped, the safety didn't. #Redskins pic.twitter.com/WK97z54hld
