Ron Rivera responds to Joe Judge's jab at Washington Football Team

Ron Rivera was asked about Giants head coach Joe Judge’s apparent shot at his team during the Giants postgame press conference following Sunday’s loss, and Rivera wouldn’t take the bait.

Judge, after his Giants were dismantled by the Bears, went on an 11-minute rant to wrap up his press conference, talking about his faith in his team’s progress despite no signs of it on the field, seemed to take a shot at Washington with a subtle reference to Jon Allen and Daron Payne getting into a scuffle on the sideline during a blowout loss to the Cowboys last month.

“This ain’t a team that’s having fistfights on the sidelines,” Judge said at the podium during his extended and fiery monologue. “This ain’t some clown organization or something else, OK?”

Rivera was much more collected when responding to the apparent jab.

“I just find it interesting. I have no response to that,” Rivera said on Wednesday. “To me, the most important thing is how we play on Sunday moreso than anything else. I’m more concerned with getting ready to play a football game as opposed to anything else.”

Judge declined to make himself available to the Washington media this week, where the question about his remarks would certainly have come up. But Rivera clearly isn’t letting it get to him as the teams get ready to square off on Sunday to wrap up the regular season.

“That’s one of those things, each guy can handle their situation themselves,” Rivera said. “As far as I’m concerned, what people don't know, that’s just the fact that they're not paying enough attention to understand what's going on.

“I’m not gonna worry about it. I’m just gonna go forward. I have enough respect for the Giants organization for what Mr. Mara and Mr. Tisch have done there. This is one of the staples of the NFL as far as I’m concerned. They’re really just two teams getting ready for Sunday.”
