Thomas Davis Sr.'s McLaren wrecked in home burglary attempt

Former Washington Football Team linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. had his home broken into and his vehicle wrecked in an attempted robbery, the retired linebacker self-reported on Tuesday.

The good news is no one appears to be hurt as it appears Davis wasn't home at the time of the attempted robbery.

Also, Davis has an extensive home security system and shared footage of the break-in attempt to his 229,000 Instagram followers, which should go a long way towards identifying the suspects.

"What's up IG family so I need you guys help," Davis wrote on Instagram. "If any of you recognize either one of these idiots that decided it was good idea to come into my home and go through all of my cars and even steal and wreck my McLaren. I'm offering a cash reward for anyone that can help identify who these guys are! More videos coming later."

Davis also shared accident footage from his wrecked McLaren 720S (see above).

Davis' wife, Kelly, shared the news on Twitter and says she's offering a cash reward.

The Union County Sheriff's Office (Monroe, NC) issued a press release Tuesday afternoon with more details of the crime. Police say they believe the McLaren — which was recovered less than a mile from Davis' home — may have crashed into a getaway vehicle.

After playing for Washington in 2020, Davis was released in March and signed a ceremonial one-day contract with Carolina shortly thereafter, so he could retire as a Panther, for whom he played the majority of his 16-year NFL career.
