Washington Football Team to play 49ers in Arizona in Week 14

The Washington Football Team will be traveling to Arizona, instead of San Francisco, to play the 49ers in Week 14, as new local COVID-19 restrictions have forced the 49ers to relocate their home games.

The changes come as Santa Clara County — which is home to the 49ers' Levi's Stadium — has updated its COVID-19 restrictions to ban all contact sports and mandate a 14-day quarantine for anyone traveling from 150 miles away.

It will mark the second time this season Washington has traveled to Arizona, where they were beaten by the Cardinals 30-15 in Week 2. Washington travels first to Pittsburgh Sunday to play the Steelers in Week 13. The next night, San Francisco will host the Buffalo Bills in Arizona on Monday Night Football.

The San Francisco 49ers issued the following statement addressing the changes:

"The San Francisco 49ers have come to an agreement with the National Football League and Arizona Cardinals which allows the 49ers to host their Weeks 13 and 14 home games against the Buffalo Bills and Washington Football Team at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

"The Cardinals organization, State Farm Stadium and League officials have been supportive and accommodating as we work through the many logistical issues involved in relocating NFL games.

"Information regarding the 49ers and future practice arrangements will be shared at the appropriate time."

The Dec. 13 game between Washington and San Francisco is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
