The Washington Football Team has not reached out to the Eagles about a potential trade for quarterback Carson Wentz, JP Finlay reports.
By all indications, Washington is definitely in the market for a quarterback, with one report suggesting they'd be interested in Sam Darnold if the Jets were to make him available. We also know they made an offer for Matthew Stafford, but were ultimately outbid by the LA Rams.
Wentz is coming off the worst season of his career and looked frightfully lost on the field in 2020. With a 57.4 completion percentage on 2,620 yards passing, including 16 touchdowns to 15 interceptions and a 72.8 passer rating, Wentz's play was so bad that he was eventually benched for Jalen Hurts.
The 28-year-old was the second overall pick in 2016 and a Pro Bowler in 2017, so there is a foundation of success there to be reclaimed, but there's apparently too much between him and the Eagles organization for that reclamation project to take place in Philadelphia.
A report Monday from NJ Advance Media indicated the Eagles are "close" to trading Wentz.
Reports out of Indianapolis suggest the Colts are one team highly interested in acquiring Wentz.
And for the Football Team, their search for a quarterback marches onward.
