Chase Young looks like he’s ready to take a big step forward in his sophomore season.
Especially if he is bullying offensive linemen like he did on Thursday night against the Patriots.
The former second overall pick looked like he was playing a different game in the Washington Football Team’s preseason opener, particularly early in the first quarter, when he came off the edge and bullied his way into the backfield with overwhelming dominance, appearing to force a fumble after a hit on Cam Newton, though it was eventually ruled an incomplete pass.
Newton jokingly said Young was smaller than he thought after the game, before praising his exceptional size and skill.
Young earned a Pro Bowl selection in his rookie year, but battled multiple injuries despite making 15 starts. He dealt with a hip flexor injury in training camp and suffered a groin injury in Week 3. So far, he looks healthy, and opposing offenses should be scared if Young is going to get the push at the line of scrimmage that he did on Thursday.
