The Washington Wizards stayed put at No. 10 in the 2022 NBA Draft, and selected Wisconsin guard Johnny Davis with that pick.

Davis, 20, was one of the most decorated players in college basketball last season. He was the Big Ten Player of the Year and a consensus First-Team All-American, and he won both the Jerry West Award (given by the Basketball Hall of Fame to the best collegiate shooting guard) and Lute Olson Award, given by CollegeInsider.com to the “most outstanding men's college basketball player in Division I.”
The shooting guard averaged 19.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 34.2 minutes per game over 31 contests as a sophomore for the Badgers last season. He also spent the summer playing for Team USA at the 2021 FIBA U19 World Cup, averaging 4.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 12.4 minutes per game to help America win gold.
“I’m almost crying, just so excited for him, all the hard work is paying off,” Johnny’s father, Mark Davis, told ABC after Johnny’s selection.
Johnny is a second-generation NBA player now, as Mark Davis was a collegiate star at Old Dominion and was a fourth-round pick of the Cavs in 1985. He played 14 seasons professionally, mostly overseas, as a small forward, but played 33 games for the Bucks and Suns in 1988-89.
