Bilal Coulibaly out four-to-six weeks with right hamstring injury

Bilal Coulibaly’s breakout sophomore season could be over, as the Wizards announced Thursday that he will be out approximately four-to-six weeks with a right hamstring injury.

Coulibaly was injured in the first quarter of Monday’s game against Toronto – a game in which he took a hard fall after a slam dunk, and later left with what the team called a hip contusion that, according to The Athletic’s Josh Robbins, was determined to be a hamstring strain after an MRI done earlier this week.

Per the team, “the injury will be treated conservatively and Coulibaly’s recovery status will be updated as appropriate,” and Robbins reports he is expected to stay with the team during his recovery.

Still, even four weeks puts Coulibaly’s earliest anticipated return into the first full week of April, and with the Wizards’ season ending April 13 – 31 days from Thursday – this could end up shutting him down completely.

If it is the end, he finishes his sophomore season with 12.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 0.7 blocks per game in 59 games played, shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from beyond the arc.
