Bradley Beal has long been considered loyal to the Wizards, but according to recent reports, the Washington star is mulling his future with the team as the NBA Draft nears.
According to Bleacher Report, Beal is now weighing the idea of requesting a trade, a decision he would make prior to next week’s draft. Beal has wanted to remain with the Wizards so long as they build a winning team around him, but the 27-year-old could decide to seek a trade to a team more suited to contend in the short term.
Per Jason Dumas, one of those teams would be the Celtics, where longtime friend and fellow star Jayson Tatum has spent his young NBA career.
Other teams Beal would welcome a trade to, per Bleacher Report, include the warriors, Heat and 76ers.
Deciding his future before the draft would allow the Wizards to acquire draft picks for this year, which could help the team rebuild more quickly if Beal indeed decides that he wants a change of scenery. Wherever he winds up, if he elects to request a trade, that offense would be getting a massive boost, as the three-time All-Star had a career year this past season, shooting a career-best 48.5 percent from the floor while scoring 31.3 points per game, his second straight season averaging over 30 points per game.
