Wizards star John Wall appeared on ESPN Monday during an interview with Field Yates and Jason Fitz, and seemed to be focusing on an external task while answering their questions regarding the dysfunction in the NFC East.
Wall, a Dallas Cowboys (2-4) fan, has enjoyed watching the other NFC East teams stumble throughout the first six weeks of the season, with Washington, the New York Giants, and the Philadelphia Eagles going a combined 3-14-1 as we head into Week 7.
Wall asked Yates to repeat his question on the division, and can be seen playing with a deck of cards.
"The Cowboys are currently in first place in the NFC East and can have a pretty commanding lead with a win tonight," Yates said.
Narrator: They got blown out 38-10.
"But that part is good," Yates continued. "But be honest, John. How much have you enjoyed seeing the Eagles, and also the Washington Football Team, and also the Giants stumble out of the gate so far this season?"
"Repeat that question, please," Wall said. "I'm sorry."
Upon repeating the question, Wall replied, "It's been great. For us, we had a tough schedule early on, so it's been great. So I'm happy that we get an opportunity now to kind of get some games where we're not playing against some of the best teams, and we've got to find a way to win."
But it's going to be tough without Dak (Prescott)," he continued. "But I think we have the right pieces — Amari Cooper, Zeke, CeeDee Lamb , the way he's playing, man, and Michael Gallup. So I think we have the pieces, we just got to get our defense to step it up. That's what we're struggling at right now."
The five-time All Star is expected to rejoin the Wizards when the NBA season starts back up after missing all of the 2019-2020 season, and about half of the prior season, after undergoing surgery on his heel and then rupturing his Achilles months later.
